Nonlinear modeling and data analysis

Abstract:
Evaluating existing models or deriving new models using measured or observed data is a typical task in dynamical systems research. Depending on pre-knowledge about the process of interest and availability and quality of suitable time series, we shall address different cases ranging from purely data-driven black-box modeling to data assimilation and model evaluation. Approaches to be presented will include probabilistic forecasts using cluster weighted models, as well as parameter estimation and system identification techniques employing invasive and non-invasive control methods that are applied to excitable and oscillatory (chaotic) systems.
